Currently I am in the curious situation of having six forthcoming books--here is a peek at the near future.

A DEATH AT THE WHITE CAMELLIA ORPHANAGE
Novel.
This book just won the first annual Ferrol Sams Award for Fiction from Mercer University Press (outside judge). A Depression-era story of adventure and wild wanderings inspired by my father's teenage escapes from the Georgia cotton fields onto the rails.

GLIMMERGLASS

Novel
A house set in a hill, a failed painter, a resurrection, a labyrinth and minotaur, a murder, a flood, an embodied muse . . . This is the wildest of dreams, set in an alternate Cooperstown. You definitely haven't read this one before. Forthcoming from P. S. Publishing (UK), 2011.

MAZE OF BLOOD

Novel
Maze of Blood
has a pulpy title in honor of its inspiration, the writer Robert Howard, and delves into deep South manners and ways, strange neurology, and a writer's obsessions. Forthcoming from P. S. Publishing in 2012.

THE FOLIATE HEAD
Poetry
A collection of formal poems with leafy cover and division pages by Welsh artist Clive Hicks-Jenkins. The leaves, groves, dryads, green men, forest meetings, and more in this book are bound to green your head! Forthcoming from Stanza Press (UK).

Post-apocalyptic. Epic. Blank verse. About a group of children searching for home. Everything they tell you not to do... THALIAD, forthcoming from Phoenicia Publishing in Montreal in late 2011.

Favorite recent quote:
"I like your writing so much because it's a mix of delicacy and and darkness. Like a chocolate covered grasshopper. Once you get to the dark part it's too late because you've been seduced by the delectable part." --playwright, Lynn Siefert (September 2010)
